I like to pay a little tribute to the great model kit box art of artist Roy Huxley. I loved his paintings when i was a kid, it was his art that made me buy the model kits.
The bird is a Beaufighter, some enemies used to call it "whispering death" because of the silent engines. I tried to be historical correct, the planes are from the RCAF 404 squdron, flown by Canadian pilots during WW2.
I sometimes need hours for the research, there was no exception here. The painting itself took me about 30 hours, I couldent resist to paint an awefull ammount of detail.
Photoshop CS, no 3D, used a diecast model as reference. Thanks for watching!
